CGK-41 CNC Carbon Electrode Thread Processing Machine
Thread Mill for Large Carbon Electrodes
The CGK-41 cuts the threads and finishes the seating surfaces on large-diameter carbon electrodes used in submerged-arc furnace operations.
Carbon electrodes for silicon smelting and ferroalloy production are far larger than graphite furnace electrodes and require a thread form that can carry heavy current under mechanical stress. The CGK-41 is a full CNC thread-processing machine built for these workpieces, using two coordinated milling heads to cut threads, finish cones, scrape end faces and complete partial-thread passes. Automatic end-face floating positioning, a crack-prevention hydraulic chuck and CNC-controlled multi-pass milling keep thread diameter tolerance within ±0.1 mm and end-face-to-thread-center perpendicularity within 0.06 mm on electrodes up to Φ1400 mm.

Six capabilities that make the CGK-41 productive on large carbon electrodes.
Double Milling Heads
One milling head cuts the thread while a second head finishes the cone, end face and partial thread in the same cycle, reducing handling and datum shifts.
Two/Three-Pass Thread Milling
CNC programs divide the thread cut into two or three passes, balancing quality and efficiency on large carbon electrode threads.
Automatic End-Face Floating Positioning
The machine references the workpiece end face automatically with a floating system, compensating for blank-length variation and setting the thread start point correctly.
Crack-Prevention Hydraulic Chuck
A single-action or three-jaw hydraulic chuck clamps the outer diameter with the clamping point set inside the bore, reducing the risk of cracking brittle carbon electrodes.
Two-Axis CNC with Safety Logic
The CNC system provides travel-limit protection, software and hardware limit protection, fault detection and alarm functions for safe unattended operation.
Built-In Dust Collection & Lubrication
A dust hood with two extraction ports surrounds the cutter, while circulating oil cooling and automatic lubrication protect the spindle bearings, guideways and ball screws.
Why Choose the CGK-41
Against general-purpose thread mills, the CGK-41 wins on electrode size, crack-safe fixturing and integrated finishing.
Sized for Large Carbon Electrodes
Φ800–Φ1400 mm diameters and 1500–3000 mm lengths cover the large carbon electrodes used in silicon and ferroalloy smelting.
Thread + Finish in One Clamping
The double milling head configuration cuts the thread and finishes the cone and end face without repositioning the electrode, preserving perpendicularity.
Brittle-Material Clamping
The hydraulic chuck clamps the outer diameter while the clamping point sits inside the bore, reducing clamping stress on carbon electrodes.
Cleaner, Safer Workshop
A cutter dust hood with two suction ports captures carbon dust at the source, while automatic lubrication and cooling extend spindle and drive life.
High Automation
Except for loading and unloading, all motions are automatic, including end-face floating positioning, multi-pass thread milling and fault monitoring.
Configurable for the Plant
A coolant system can be added on request, and the CNC program library stores thread profiles for different electrode specifications.
